Teen stars perform to fight cancer

Teen stars sing to fight cancer

Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Jesse McCartney will perform at the Concert for Hope on October 25 to benefit City of Hope's cancer research.
Hosted by Staples Inc., the concert will raise money for cancer research and treatment programs at City of Hope, one of the nation's leading cancer centers. The Disney stars will come together at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Last year the concert raised $1.2 million for City of Hope's cancer research effort where Cyrus, Levato, and The Jonas Brothers performed.
In addition to the Concert for Hope, Cyrus is donating $1 from each ticket sold to the cancer center. In her tour last year, Cyrus raised more than $2 million.
“I think people of all ages will want to go to the concert,” said Kristen Caldwell, 20-year-old advertising student. “I can’t wait to hear Miley and Jesse, and to know that I’m helping sick people makes it so much better.”
The stars have not promoted the concert much yet, but as the event moves closer, I’m sure we will be hearing a lot from the artists.

“Thanks to Disney Music Group, artists Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Jesse McCartney, and Staples, City of Hope will further advance science to ensure the best therapies are available to patients who face cancer and other life-threatening diseases,” said Michael A. Friedman, M.D., president and chief executive officer, City of Hope. “We are honored to have their commitment as we work to ultimately find cures and give hope to patients everywhere.”
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets such as Macy's, FYE Music & Ritmo Latino. For more info about City of Hope, visit www.cityofhope.org

  1. I think it is great that Jesse, Miley and Demi can put their competitive nature behind them and come together for the City of Hope’s cancer research. Their attendance to this event proves they have remained grounded as they’ve attained fame, and I respect them greatly for taking time out of their busy schedules to perform for a bigger cause. I believe this benefit concert featuring the 3 pop stars will be very successful and will raise a lot of money for cancer research.

  2. The Concert for Hope includes a fantastic combination of celebrities and performances. Miley Cyrus and Jesse McCartney will indeed reach out to a younger target audience, instilling awareness and concern at an early age. The earlier understanding and appreciation takes place, the longer they will reveal devotion and support. I feel it is a wonderful thing to motivate the youth into movement for a wonderful cause! It seems as if this is an ongoing trend, considering the Jonas Brothers performed at last years concert.
